About Gwanas Fawr Flowers

We grow just outside of Dolgellau in the foothills of Cader Idris, in the heart of Meirionnydd, Snowdonia.  All our flowers are grown seasonally here in the cutting gardens at Gwanas Fawr with love and care and without the use of pesticides or chemicals. We raise plants all year round in order to provide abundant buckets of flowers throughout our main season.

Surrounded by the dramatic Cader Idris mountain range we pride ourselves on offering local and affordable flowers here in Snowdonia. The best bit is our gloriously scented flowers have no air-miles.

When are our flowers available?

Our season is between April and October, but we also have flowers available either side of this with some flowers grown under cover in our polytunnel.

Our cutting gardens

We began creating the cutting gardens in 2021 and in the spring of 2023 started providing flowers locally to florists. Every year we are adding and increasing what we can offer.

Most of our flowers are grown from seed which enables us to grow a wide selection of  vibrant and beautifully scented flowers whilst also indulging our passion for growing.

What kinds of flowers do we grow?

Beginning with the tulips and highly scented narcissi in spring we grow a wide selection of early flowering perennials to accompany the ranunculus and tall florists sweet peas.

Early summer our deliciously scented roses start to bloom and the annual flowers get going with frothy ammi-majus, orlaya-grandiflora, giant scabious and larkspur to name but a few.

Our dahlias provide us with bountiful buckets in every colour palette in August and September. We also grow lots of grasses, foliage and shrubs to add to our natural and generous garden style and by the end of the summer our barn is brimming with dried flowers ready to decorate wreaths throughout autumn and winter.
